From Sculptures to Urban Sketching: bskunst Showcases the Diversity of Art
Summer, Sun, Art Time? This Saturday, the Cultural Days in the Western Ring Area are on the schedule. Part of the program is an art salon on Jahnstraße, organized by the Alternative Art Association bskunst. In a group exhibition, watercolors, sculptures, and urban sketching are displayed. The exhibition takes place in an apartment, specifically at Jahnstraße 8a. We enter a narrow hallway. It’s actually too tight here to look at the “Urban Sketches” at leisure. Somehow, someone always walks past me, unintentionally pushing me a bit further. But I linger initially at the drawings around Braunschweig. Some are in black and white, others are colorful. I like this art style, and it certainly helps that many of the motifs are from Braunschweig – images with high recognition value.
Floating Sculptures
From the “hallway,” we move into the kitchen. In addition to the sale of coffee and cake, the first watercolors and sculptures are on display. Some stand, others float. Again, it’s too cramped to take a proper look around. I don’t want coffee. It’s 30 degrees outside, so something cool would be nice. So, I move to another room, which could be a living room, and find myself among the watercolors. As the diva of colors, I read, watercolor painting is described. Colors that cannot be controlled, I continue reading, pose a special challenge for the artist because it forces them to go inward and submit to the process.
The place is simply too crowded. We are back in the hallway, the narrow passage. I walk past the Urban Sketches slowly and attentively once more. I just like these the best. I admire anyone who can draw like this. Unfortunately, I cannot boast of such a talent.
