What does “La Provence” has in common with Arabia? Well, at first sight probably nothing. A second sight at the region may reveal some connection. After all France used to be quite “active” in the Middle East (i.e. Syria was under french protectorate) in colonial times and in North Africa (Algeria, Tunesia and Morocco).
Especially in the region’s “capital” Aix-en-Provence you will find a lot of french people of arabic origin.
However, nothing comes close to the absolutely amazing landscape that is made of vast lavender fields, starting in July!
